Appointments

The practice uses eConsult appointment triage system -

This helps reduce the waiting list backlog on the telphones, improves patients expierience through specialist triage questions and hybrid consultation tools.

Complete an online form here (eConsult)

If you are not able to access this support, we can complete this on your behalf over the phone. This follows the same process of those who complete their consultation online.

How it works:

eConsult is free to use for NHS patients.

You can use eConsult to ask your GP surgery about your health symptoms, conditions or treatment. You can also request sick / fit notes and GP Letters.

  • Find your symptom, condition or request
  • Fill out a quick form with traige questions
  • The practice will respond with advice, prescription or an appointment.

We understand not all patients are able to use our eConsult system.

Alternatively appointments can be requested via person by coming into surgery from 8.00am to complete a form.

Why does the receptionist need to ask what’s wrong with me?

Our reception staff are important members of the practice team and it has been agreed they should ask patients ‘why they need to be seen’.

We have trained our reception staff to ask certain questions to help make sure you receive:

  • The most appropriate medical care;
  • From the most appropriate health professional;
  • At the most appropriate time

Reception staff, like all members of our team, are bound by patient confidentiality.

As a registered patient you will have the right to an appointment regardless of how long it may have been since your last attendance. Nevertheless, the practice may, at its discretion, ask you to attend for a patient health check.

If we are unable to offer you an appointment but you require urgent medical attention, you should contact NHS 111 and, depending on your situation you will:

  • Find out what local service can help you
  • connected to a nurse, emergency dentist, pharmacist or GP
  • Get a face-to-face appointment if you need one
  • Be given an arrival time if you need to go to A&E – this might mean you spend less time in A&E
  • Be told how to get any medicine you need
  • Get self-care advice

Cancelling or changing an appointment

If you can not make your appointment let us know as soon as you can so another patient can book the appointment time.

It is your responsibility to keep your appointment. If you DNA an appointment and you have more than 3 without reason or informing the practice, the surgery will remove you from the records.

You can cancel or change your appointment:

  • Phone us. Check our opening times
  • Visit the surgery and speak with a receptionist. Check our opening times

If you need help when we are closed

  • Use NHS 111 online (111.nhs.uk) or call 111. 111 online is for people aged 5 and over. Call 111 if you need help for a child under 5.
  • Out of hours information
  • If it’s a life-threatening emergency call 999.

Try the NHS App

You can now use the NHS App, a simple and secure way to access a range of NHS services and your GP account on your smartphone or tablet.

You can use the NHS App to check your symptoms and get instant advice, book appointments, order repeat prescriptions, view your GP medical record, access your Covid vaccination status and more.

If you already use online access you can continue to use it. You can use the NHS App as well.

Telephone Advice

Our GPs and Practice Nurses are available for advice over the telephone. On enquiry you will be advised when they will be available for this service. There as so many available slots each day and once they are fully booked, you will have to wait for the following day. However, if it is an emergency then you will be prioritised.

Home Visits

Patients are advised to attend surgery whenever possible. The GP will, however, be available to visit those who are genuinely unable to attend the surgery. General lack of transport is not a valid reason for a home visit. If you are too ill to attend surgery please leave your name, address, telephone number and some brief details of the problem. Please help us to offer the service by requesting your visit before 11.00am.
